The "Mukha" deck features an image of Michelle Tomniczak. The word "Mukha" means "face" in Filipino.
Shooting with Michelle was a lot of fun. She was the first model to be a part of California Girls Skateboards. Her friendly attitude and her enthusiasim for the project were wonderful right from the start.
We shot this image in the Santa Monica Mountains on a springtime afternoon in 2009. One of the things I love the most about this photograph is that it reminds me of the artwork on the 1980s Vision Aggressor board, which was part of the inspiration for creating California Girls Skateboards in the first place. Befitting that the first model helped produce such a symbolic graphic.
